The South Coast Championships (SCC) is an annual event which is held jointly by the three Southern Rowing Associations – CARA, HDARA (Hampshire and Dorset Amateur Rowing Association and WEARA (the West of England Amateur Rowing Association). Each association takes turn to host the event each year, with CARA and HDARA holding the championship in coastal boats and WEARA holding it in fine boats (river boats) meaning every third year is held in river boats.
This event is probably the largest single day regatta in the country held each year with attendance from over 40 clubs and large numbers of crews, rowing in open events alongside the coveted championship races which can only be rowed in by those crew qualifying as the best two from each association in their preceding season.
